This blog is about a healthy lifestyle. We understand that there are no quick fixes or crying over the number on the scale. We are weight lifters, fast runners, and clean eaters. This is a change for the better and for the long run. There are no short cuts, only hard work.
And we love every second of it.

“Before my breast reduction, I lost 23 pounds and my boobs hardly shrunk. I am now a 34 dd, maybe even triple, and that's still quite large to me. I still want to lose 30-40 pounds. Do you think if I lose 30 pounds they'll shrink even though they barely shrunk before? :( I hate having big tits”
-Anonymous

I was in the same situation. I lost a lot of weight before my surgery and didn’t lose even a cm from my chest. If you’ve already lost 23 pounds, I can’t imagine that you actually need to lose that much more weight unless you’re very overweight. Don’t get obsessed with the number of pounds. Just eat healthy and exercise and your body will do its work. I know DD may be large for you (which shouldn’t be at all if you really think you need to lose up to 60 pounds), but you can still find a lot of bras and sports bras that fit that size. So your numbers are mixed up. Either you’re wearing the complete wrong bra size, or you really don’t need to lose up to 60 pounds. As I said, eat healthy and exercise daily and your body will do what it wants.

“Hi! I'm Darby. I found your blog after watching your video on your breast reduction. It's so cool that you have a fitness blog too! I've been doing a lot of research on people that have undergone reduction bc about a week from now I'll be getting it done as well! I've had disproportionate breasts since I was like 13 (Im about your size) so reduction has always been kind of this real, inevitable thing. I'm excited, but also scared bc Ive never gotten any type of surgery, esp something so drastic.”

It’s drastic, but it saved and changed my life. I’ll never regret mine. As long as it feels right for you, it’ll be fine. Good luck!!

Last night I made some seriously kickass veggie burgers. Like, they tasted better than a hamburger. Next time I make them I’ll do a video to share with everyone because I improvised the recipe.

I think I’ve eaten an entire tree-worth of cherries in the last couple days.

“I have 40 days until my breast reduction-- any tips for what I can do in the next few weeks to prepare?”
-Anonymous

Eat healthy and exercise because you’ll be taking at least four weeks off from exercise, and being healthy will promote healthy healing. And buy some comfy, soft pajamas to wear. :)

Dinner Tonight

Tonight I made a vegetarian dinner for my family! Baked sea bass with mango-avocado salsa, baked asparagus with parmesan cheese, and a side of herbed/lemon quinoa, and quinoa chocolate cupcakes for dessert! YUM!!!

“Would you say that sushi is healthy or good for you?”
-Anonymous

Fish is good for you, rice isn’t bad for you, avocado is good for you… it depends on the sushi! Many rolls are made with substitute fish made out of stuff like mayo, so as long as you’re eating actual sushi, I’d say it can be good for you in moderation! The sauces can be what gets ya.

But who cares? SUSHI IS TOO GOOD TO CARE IF IT’S GOOD FOR YOU. Eat it. Eat it all gone.

“Would you say it's normal to gain and lose inches throughout your body while beginning to workout and stuff?”
-Anonymous

Absolutely normal. Your body is freaking out from the new routines, but it’ll regulate :)

“I need your advice on how to get a flat tummy fast. I'm 5'3, my weight is probably somewhere between 115-125 (I honestly haven't weighed myself in a while and it fluctuates pretty often) and over the past few months I've made a lot of healthy life choices, but I haven't seen a difference in my abdomen. I've been practicing yoga for over a year. I've been going to the gym 4-6 days out of the week. I'm eating healthier, and I take in as little sugar as possible. I've seen the difference in my...”

…butt, legs, and arms, but my tummy is still a little flabby. When I go to the gym, I’m up to 25 minutes of cardio at the beginning, 15 minutes at the end, and anywhere from 30-50 minutes of weights in between. What exercises should I focus on to flatten my stomach so I can look awesome in my swimsuit this summer?
I’d ask yourself these questions first:
Your workouts sound great, but how intense are they? Are your muscles DYING at the end of each rep? How many reps are you doing? 12-15 should be MAX. Is your heart POUNDING during cardio? Have you tried HIIT? Do you switch up your workouts often?
Are you eating whole grains? Are you still eating a lot of processed/packaged foods? Is refined sugar sneaking into your diet through packaged foods? Are you drinking extra calories? Are you drinking tons of water each day? Are you eating plenty of protein/fruits/veggies? Do you have a food allergy/intolerance?
And just remember that a lot of women can’t achieve a totally flat and toned tummy. People in pictures go on extreme diets and workouts to look like that for those shoots. Don’t look at fitspo and think you’ll look like that. Everyone’s bodies are different. I’d try all of the above questions and wait at least a few weeks for results.
