This blog is about a healthy lifestyle. We understand that there are no quick fixes or crying over the number on the scale. We are weight lifters, fast runners, and clean eaters. This is a change for the better and for the long run. There are no short cuts, only hard work.
And we love every second of it.

“Hey, would you recommend keeping a journal/diary to keep track of exercise and keep motivated. I often start working out and then realise I haven't done anything for a week. Also, do you have any tips for getting into yoga poses. My back always tends to hurt and it feels like I'm doing it wrong and it doesn't feel straight when it needs to be, could this just be as I'm not quite flexible enough yet? Thanks :)”

Oh DEFINITELY! I started keeping one for my weight lifting class and realized how important it is. You get to see your progress not just through your body, but through numbers on a page too. It also keeps you on track and helps you to push yourself to up your weight more. I have a notebook I use to log every workout and I also use Fitocracy to log workouts as well and to stay motivated :)

Yoga poses come with time. The only reason I can do as much as I can do in such a short amount of time is because I’m already pretty flexible from dance and strong from weight training. So just keep working at them. :) If things hurt you might be doing it wrong. I don’t recommend using magazines or visuals to get into poses. I’d try going to classes or using an actual video so that someone can tell you how to do each pose properly. For example, crow looks like it’s just an arm balance, but it actually is near impossible to do without really rounding out your back and holding your core in super tight. This is something you’d never know just from a picture.

So just keep working at it and use Youtube or doyogawithme.com :) If you’re very serious about wanting to get good at yoga, try joining a studio or using Yogaglo.com :) Good luck!
