This blog is about a healthy lifestyle. We understand that there are no quick fixes or crying over the number on the scale. We are weight lifters, fast runners, and clean eaters. This is a change for the better and for the long run. There are no short cuts, only hard work.
And we love every second of it.

Just practicing tripod to chaturanga transitions! I didn’t record it, but I managed a crow-tripod-chaturanga later :)

“Does This Pose Make Me Look Fat?”

A 2009 study published in Complementary Therapies in Medicine showed that practicing yoga can help women overcome binge eating. Researchers compared two groups of women with binge eating disorder and found that the group randomly assigned to a 12-week yoga program significantly reduced their bingeing behavior.

Try these mantras when you you’re feeling less than confident:

  • My body is perfect.
  • I am the same amazing person whether I’ve put on 10 pounds or lost them.
  • I will own my power and shape and use it to inspire confidence.
  • Beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder, and I think I rock.

So I’ve got my hour long yoga class planned out, and I just made the playlist for it.

I did regular music, with words, but kept it to softer music. The thing I love about my yoga studio is they play good music which gets you geared up. I’m not a fan of slow, “om” music while doing yoga unless I’m doing it to relax.

Do you guys have music preferences for when you do yoga?

Indie Yoga presents: V Elements Festival in San Diego, CA!

On April 6, 2013 in San Diego, California, my favorite yoga studio in Ocean Beach called Indie Yoga, partnered with Bird Rock Yoga and others, will be holding there very first V Elements Festival.

V Elements (pronounced Five Elements) is an all-ages solar and alternatively powered culture, yoga and music festival taking place April 6th, 2013 at Liberty Station, San Diego.  There will be yoga classes by day, led by some of the most sought after instructors California has to offer, and electronic, funk, hip hop, soul and world music by night from local, regional and national touring artists.  V Elements Festival will focus on balancing the five elements represented by earth, wind, fire, water, and space. We will display this through the use of  yoga, music, community, health and environment. Other unique offerings include libations and food, Dr. Bronner’s ALL-One Ark Village, Surfrider sponsored panel and much more!

Early bird tickets are on sale now, but going quickly! I will definitely be there for 15 hours of yoga, music, and other fun events! Spread the word!

GUESS WHO WILL BE TEACHING HER FIRST YOGA CLASS ON SUNDAY

I’LL GIVE YOU A HINT IT’S ME OMYGOSH.

Yoga Love.

Last night at midnight my boyfriend and I celebrated his birthday over Skype. I let him open his presents right after midnight. I gave him a Manduka Pro Lite mat (just like mine :)) and a Manduka towel for hot yoga.

He loved it all so much. I haven’t seen him smile that big and that much in so long.

Yoga couples are the happiest couples. :)

Today’s Workout:
  • 1 hour of a nonstop vinyasa flow, a la Kathryn Budig.
  • A few more rounds of pincha, scorpion, and handstand.
  • 20 each leg side kick thingies (where you stand straight and lift your leg to the side)
  • 50 squats

ow. i’m tired. exhausted. chugging my protein and hopping in the shower. I’ve got 4.5 hours of work ahead of me tonight!

You know, sometimes when you can’t sleep you just gotta unroll your mat and go upside down for a while.
Mmm. Goodnight.

omgggg I just went to the new yoga studio in Ocean Beach and it was amaaaazing. My two friends went with me and it felt sooo good. The guy who walks around and does adjustments literally said “wow” when he was stretching me further. I love doing it in a hot room, with other people, a great teacher, and an adjuster. I am definitely going to try and go again tomorrow and take advantage of the first week unlimited for $10 deal!

GUYS MY FOREARMS WERE SWEATING I MEAN WHO SWEATS ON THEIR FOREARMS IT WAS GREAT.

I am so antsy! I’m sitting here trying to focus on doing this stupid homework and I keep getting distracted: messing with iTunes, texting, checking Tumblr and Facebook, adjusting how I’m sitting, thinking about dinner, and basically everything BUT homework!

I’m going to just put my homework aside for now and do some yoga. I think I’ll mellow out after kicking my butt for an hour!

Attention San Diego Yogis!

This Saturday, December 1st, I’ll be going to Indie Yoga here in Ocean Beach to do yoga, and I’d love it if any of you could come and do some yummy yoga with me, and maybe grab a smoothie afterwards or something! I’ll either be going to the 9am or 10:30am class, so if you can come, let me know and we’ll figure out a time to go. I’m super excited because I have been dying to join a studio for months!

I hope any of you can make it! If not, I plan on going to this studio quite a bit so we can always try another day!
